Students will need to have successfully completed their undergraduate studies in order to study a master’s degree.
A master’s degree often lasts for two years and will require the student to have a basic understanding of their chosen subject.
The most common type of U.S. master’s degrees are:
- MA (Master of Arts)
- MS (Master of Science)
- MBA (Master of Business Administration)
These degrees are awarded to students who successfully complete 30 or more credits (note: the number of credits varies by program), as well as a thesis or capstone project.

It is not uncommon for these types of degrees to offer internship programs, which will allow students to combine classroom theory with invaluable work experience.
